About NPMMI-2026

Nuclear Probes like neutrons, protons and other charged particles, intense photons and high energy electrons obtained from research reactors, particle accelerators, nuclear decay (α, β-, β+ & sub-atomic particles) are being utilized in various fields of science and technology for basic and applied research in nuclear chemistry, nuclear physics, solid state physics, materials sciences as well as in various societal and industrial applications like healthcare, water, food and agriculture. In order to discuss the current trends and future prospects of nuclear probes in various fields, a three-day Symposium on “Nuclear Probes for Materials, Medicine and Industry (NPMMI-2026)“, sponsored by Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, is being organized by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai during October 8-10, 2026 at Multipurpose Hall, BARC Training School Hostel, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, in association with Society for Positron Annihilation and Nuclear Probes (SPAN).

The main objective of NPMMI-2026 is to provide a platform for enhancing interdisciplinary cooperation among R&D Scientists, Academicians and Research Scholars from DAE, Academic & Research Institutes and Industry Personnel in enhanced utilization of various nuclear probes. A special session will also be conducted to commemorate 70 years of Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) in BARC, DAE, India since operation and utilization of the first research reactor of India Apsara in 1956.
