Nuclear probes like neutrons, charged particles, and photons are at the forefront of modern science, enabling advanced research in nuclear chemistry, nuclear physics, solid-state physics, and materials science. The techniques based on nuclear probes play a crucial role in materials characterization and have transformative applications in healthcare, water, food, agriculture, and industry. During June 7-8, 2024, a Theme Meeting on Nuclear Probes for Materials, Medicine and Industry (NPMMI-2024) was successfully organized by RC&IG, BARC in association with Society for Positron Annihilation and Nuclear Probes (SPAN) C/o RC&IG, BARC at DAE Convention Centre with financial support from BRNS, DAE.
Building on this success, the 1st DAE-BRNS Symposium three-day symposium (NPMMI-2026) is being organized by RC&IG, BARC in association with SPAN aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists, academicians, research scholars, and industry professionals to advance the utilization of nuclear probe techniques. This Symposium will also include a half-day special session to commemorate 70 years of Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) in India since operation and utilization of 1 MWt Apsara reactor, the first research reactor of India at BARC, Trombay, Mumbai in 1956.
